Ondrives are pleased to announce the launch of it’s fast, free and easy to use online gear tooth calculator.
It’s simple user interface allows the user to generate detailed gear dimensions including tooth thickness control and inspection values such as distance over pins or balls and base tangent (span over teeth) length.
The calculator can handle both external and internal spur and helical gears. It displays the tooth profile of three teeth in the transverse section and updates with changes to the inputs allowing the user to consider factors such as profile shift, undercutting and tooth thickness. When undercutting occurs, the calculator provides the user with the minimum profile shift coefficient required to remove it. Feedback is also provided if the specified pin/ball diameter is too large, if tooth thickness at the tip of the gear teeth is too small or if the number of teeth for span measurement is too large or too small.
When the final gear sizes have been set, a pdf report can be generated and saved containing all the data plus the tooth profile image. This will allow customers to create designs and drawings with more detailed and accurate gear data.
The method of calculation used is ISO standard 21771 with a non topping DIN 867 reference profile. It is valid for a value of 1 normal module and above and a reference diameter of 10mm to 10000mm inclusive. Tooth thickness tolerance can be chosen from the DIN 3967 standard.
For worms, wheels or gears with reference profiles and tooth thicknesses outside of the calculator scope, Ondrives operates the latest KissSoft gear design software package and can provide technical assistance. We can also design and manufacture ground straight bevel gears, spiral bevel gears and hypoid bevel gears using Gleason CAGE, GAGE and Unical systems.
