There are a wide range of plungers available from mechanical drive components’ specialist, Ondrives Ltd. of Chesterfield, within their accessories section.

One of the most popular are the spring plungers complete with hexagon socket and pressure pins and slot and ball that are ideal for both positioning and indexing, and also as a hold-down and knock-out pin. They are used, for example, in fixture and tool shops. A hybrid version of this is the spring plunger secured with Long-Lok which has many advantages including being secure in case of vibration, having extremely high unscrewing movement, being secure in every position, saving assembly costs and stock keeping, can be used repeatedly and is a problem solver from M3 to M16.

Other plungers in the range include smooth execution versions in plastic and stainless, threaded spring elements with a threaded zinc plated body which are universal pressure elements used for detenting, positioning or for clamping pieces by means of the pressure of a loaded spring. Threaded ball spring plungers with limit switch are used for locking or releasing pieces by using a built-in electrical switch, whilst double ended smooth plungers are the result of further development of threaded parts for special applications.
