Rubber Suspension Units from Ondrives Ltd.

Ondrives Ltd. are pleased to present an extensive range of rubber suspension units in their mechanical drive components mail order catalogue.

Rubber suspension units are basically made up of a torsion spring with four pre-tensioned special inserts placed between the outer casing and inner square section rotated at 45 degrees.

There are various different configurations of units available, the DOS type is particularly well suited for alternating motions at the plus or minus angular range. The DOA unit can have a lever mounted on one or both sides by means of bolts. It provides an excellent attachment without clearance which is most important in order to transmit alternating motions by passing the neutral axis in either direction. There are then two types of clamps available for fixing the outer housing or inner square profile to fit exactly to the rubber suspension units.

They were originally developed as a low cost suspension unit for vehicles, however they are used extensively today within amusement parks to ensure passengers can ride through rapids and curves without shock, and above all injury. Other applications include as components for machinery construction, such as rubber suspension units in a standardised module, chain and belt tensioners, oscillating elements for screen suspensions and motor bases with automatic tensioning, the company states.
