Ondrives Ltd. offer four different versions of precision linear slide units from their mechanical drive components catalogue as standard, the company states.

The BSP is a lightweight and compact linear motion rolling guide made of stainless steel formed precisely to be like a U-shaped table or track rail. The precision linear slide series features high performance and durability, making this series suitable for scanning or writing heads of memory storage devices such as hard disk drives. The series is also widely applicable for measuring equipment, IC manufacturing and inspection devices. They are of the non-recirculating ball type and offer limited linear motion. A special composite resin retainer is used to capture the balls and eliminate noise caused by the balls contacting each other. Extremely smooth and light movement without stick are other advantages.

BSPG-SL series are similar to the BSP units, but have a built in rack and pinion which combines the two rows of balls with a pinion gear. The pinion gear engages with a rack gear to prevent slipping of movement of the retainer to ensure excellent positioning stability. The BSPG type has the same extremely smooth movement as the BSP type. The constant allowable temperature is +100ºC up to a maximum of 120ºC and a maximum speed of 0.5m/sec (30m/min).

The BSR type is recommended when it is difficult to calibrate the position of the retainer in the BSP type. Sensitive to external contaminants, so it is advisable that any dirt should be washed out with a suitable cleaning agent, the company states. In order to ensure smooth motion, a high grade lubricant should be reapplied to the raceway and balls. This type features a special composite resin retainer to recirculate the balls, permitting longer stroke lengths with low noise.

The final product in the range is the BWU type (pictured) which features an all stainless steel construction making it ideal for use in clean rooms and is a compact linear motion rolling guide for limited stroke length. The balls are arranged in two rows and each ball makes contact with the ground raceways at four points. This series achieves highly accurate and smooth linear motion with high rigidity under fluctuating and complex load. The table, balls, retainers, bed, end plates, etc are all made of stainless steel to give superior corrosion resistance. This series is suitable for use in a clean room and also in medical equipment, IC manufacturing equipment, etc.
