Drawn cup needle roller bearings are just one of the few types of bearings offered as standard by mechanical drive components specialist Ondrives Ltd of Chesterfield.

There are three types available which are open end bearings, inner ring only and the closed end bearings. All are made from hard steel with a steel case and steel cages except those with bore sizes from 3mm to 4mm which have hardened steel needles. For optimum life capacity, they are recommended for use onto hardened or toughened shafts, the company states. Accuracy is affected depending on the accuracy of the housing and shaft used. They will operate at a permissible operating temperature of 120ºC with continuous use.
