Ondrives Ltd. supplied some of its standard P40 worm & wheel reduction gearboxes in November 2004 to Barr & Paatz of Totnes, the production automation experts, for end use in high volume contact lens production.
The Ondrives gearboxes were chosen because of their compact, robust, low backlash, lightweight & easy to mount capabilities as they are used as precision 90° reduction drives on Rexroth Bosch Servo motors which, are integrated as auxiliary axes into a robot motion controller.
The precise positioning of various tools relative to a circular array of components arranged on a transport pallet, is central to the critical first stage of the production process.
