Performance
The maximum torque of the miniature coupling is two-fold of the rated torque.
Select a type in which torque generated during continuous operation does not exceed the rated torque of the miniature coupling.
Flexible couplings transmit torque and rotational angle while absorbing misalignment.
When the misalignment exceeds allowable values, vibration may result or the life of the coupling may become shortened. Make sure to adjust the alignment accordingly.
There are three types of shaft misalignment, namely in terms of parallel misalignment, angular misalignment and shaft end-play.
Adjust the alignment to be below allowable values listed in the specification table of each miniature coupling.
The maximum misalignment listed within this range is the allowable value only when one of the misalignments exists.
In case two or more misalignments exist at the same time, the allowable values will be less than 50% of the maximum misalignment listed in the specification tables.
Misalignments are sometimes caused not only by equipment assembly, but also by vibration, heat expansion, wear of bearings, etc during operation.
Therefore, it is recommended to adjust the shaft misalignment to be below 1/3 of maximum values.

Operating temperature -20°C to +60°C (rated and max. torque capacities are decreased in case of use in high ambient temperatures.
If ambient temperature exceeds 30°C, adjust torque capacity)

IMPORTANT: Couplings and other rotational parts should be protected by covers for safety operation.
Also, take note that operation under misalignment exceeding maximum values and excessive torque may result in shorter life of the coupling due to plastic deformation.

Features
Combines the features of a metal spring coupling with zero backlash and a flexible coupling with elastic rubber sleeve.
Therefore, the MJT can be used as a rotational angle transmission with zero backlash and for torque transmission.
Check the following points for the proper selection of MJT couplings.

(i) Zero Backlash Transmission:
Zero backlash in low torque application, made capable by having the hubs pressed in a spacer.
In applications where rotational angle transmission and motion control at low torque are needed, this can be
used like a metal coupling with zero backlash. In addition, MJT couplings can absorb torsional vibration.
The permissible torque in zero backlash application is smaller than the rated torque mentioned in the
specification tables.
Any of the three different sleeves has the same permissible torque in zero backlash application, however, the
harder sleeve has the better response of angularity transmission.
(ii) Torque Transmission:
The MJT, a compression type coupling, can transmit generally higher torque, and this coupling can be
recommended for the applications of general industrial machinery like pumps, where backlash is
acceptable.

Confirm that the rated torque, maximum rotational frequency and dimensions of the coupling type you have
selected are adequate for the equipment you intend to use it with.

For torque transmission applications, we recommend an MJT with keyway (MJT- K) or an MJT with clamp
hub and keyway (MJT- CK) for safety and sure shaft attachment.

Can be used as a flexible coupling in a high torque application
Complete absorption of eccentricity, angularity and end-play by spring action
Identical clockwise & anti-clockwise rotational characteristics
Excellent resistance to oil, and electrical insulation
Compression type coupling assembled by pressing a polyurethane sleeve into hubs on both sides
Excellent flexibility - torsional vibration can be absorbed as well as parallel & angular misalignments
For use with both servo and stepper motors.
These couplings can transmit higher torque than conventional miniature couplings.
The polyurethane spider absorbs vibrations like hunting generated by servo motor.
Excellent flexibility, parallel and angular misalignments, and torsional vibration can be efficiently absorbed.

Material
Body: Aluminium alloy, Anodic Oxide coated
Spacer Disc: Polyurethane.
-RD: Red disc = high torque - standard. These have the highest hardness causing the rated torque to be large. As a result allowable misalignment is small.,
-BL:
Blue disc = low torque. These have the lowest hardness causing the rated torque and max. torque to also be small. As a result allowable misalignment is large.,
-WH: White disc. These are the average of the aforementioned blue and red couplings.
Discs are also to purchase separately (P.O.A).

Options
The MJT coupling can be bored out, but not keywayed. Keywayed versions (MJT-K) can be ordered as specials but a minimum order quantity may apply. Please contact Sales for further informationn
